You Won't Believe This Fyre Addition To The BIGSOUND 2019 Program

8 August 2019 | 9:00 am | Staff Writer

The full conference program has been revealed!

After becoming a pop culture sensation in recent months thanks to a certain scene in a certain Netflix documentary, Fyre Festival event producer Andy King has been locked down to give a keynote address at BIGSOUND next month.

King’s appearance at the conference – happening in Brisbane’s Fortitude Valley from 3 - 6 September - will see him give insight into the controversial festival and event promotion in general while discussing “why you should never run out of water” and more.

Alongside King, BIGSOUND has announced an additional 70+ speakers and buyers today, all of whom join an already talent-packed conference line-up that includes Best Coast’s Bethany Cosentino, Revenge Of The She-Punks author Vivien Goldman, Nettwerk Music Group CEO and co-founder Terry McBride and more.

The line-up now features the likes of Spotify Australia/NZ’s Alicia Sbrugnera, ARIA’s Dan Rosen, Unified Music Group’s Ashleigh Hills, Secret Service’s Stacey Piggott, Bakehouse/Slam's Helen Marcou, Paradigm Agency's Jamila Lyndon, Sony’s Petrina Convey, triple j's Declan Byrne, X-Ray Touring’s Shaun Faulkner, Inertia's Uda Widanapathirana, artist Alex The Astronaut and Next Acting Coaching’s Viv Fantin, among others.

VMDO's Neil Morris, journalist, radio host and publicist Sosefina Fuamoli, Twin Flames' Chelsey June and Tikidub's Ninakaye Taanetinorau will all present as part of the First Nations Keynote series, which is set to "unpack cultural resurgence and working within a global settler-led music industry".

The finalised conference line-up will be accompanied by a stacked artist program, with more than 150 acts, including Mojo Juju, Tones & I, These New South Whales, LOSER, Spacey Jane, DRMNGNOW, The Money War, PINCH POINTS and more, announced in recent weeks.

With its conference and festival line-ups now locked down, BIGSOUND has released its full timetable, with a rundown of panels, workshops, presentations, showcases, parties and more available via its website and app, allowing delegates, punters and artists the chance to start prepping for the epic event.

The recently announced artist village will see YouTube Music as its first-ever partner, giving artists the opportunity to take part in exclusive workshops and more.

“Some of the most memorable moments with artists happen early -- many fans can tell you about the first time they heard an incredible new song or watched a groundbreaking video from a musical newcomer,” shares YouTube's Head of Music Content Partnerships (South East Asia, AU/NZ) Ruuben van den Heuvel

“This is why we're proud to join forces with BIGSOUND for the second year, and look forward to coming together with thousands of artists in Brisbane, to try to help them find audiences at every phase of their career.”

BIGSOUND 2019 takes place in Brisbane's Fortitude Valley from 3 - 6 September. Tickets for this year's conference and festival are on sale now via Oztix, head to the BIGSOUND website for all the info and check out the full list of speakers below.
