With their seventh studio album, Suckapunch, set for release this week, UK heavyweights You Me At Six have given themselves the tough task of ranking their own records.
In a The Music exclusive, You Me At Six frontman Josh Franceschi has given a definitive ranking on each album. Here's what Franceschi had to say:
I’d rank SNS at number one primarily as the spirit of that record has lived on in every record we’ve made since. It has the most of my favourite songs on a single album and additionally we made a pretty diverse mish mash sounding record work, which is maybe down to the fact we didn’t second guess ourselves.
The overall experience of making this album is why it sits so highly for me. We made the album in Los Angeles and it truly was an unforgettable summer. In terms of life experiences, it's right up there for me in what we’ve done as a band. Furthermore, it went on to be a number one album in the UK which reinforces my love for the album. It's got some of my favourite songs we put in the live set.

This record really felt like a renaissance of sorts for the band. We tried a lot of different things on this album sonically and even the way we approached the song writing. It really was special to find our producer Dan Austin on this album and work alongside him. He brings out the best in people around him and you trust completely he’ll deliver the vision you had for your songs.
Feel like this was our first ‘real’ recording of an album. By that I mean we had a longer time to put the record together. We actually wrote a lot of those songs while touring our debut album, just in shitty run down venues around EU. We all moved to the town we recorded it at in Reading and lived together. That was our first experience of doing that. Songs like Underdog, Stay With Me and Liquid Confidence put us on the map in that time.
We went to Blackbird studios in Nashville, TN. I could never have of imagined us making a record in Nashville but it was incredible and even more so to record at the famous Blackbird studios. I think we all really enjoyed being there and ultimately tested ourselves as a band to track the songs live.
Making this album when we were 17/18 having absolutely no idea what was what. Made it in the space of two weeks and stuck it on out independently with our manager at the time. Our expectations and ambition for not only the band but the album at that time were next to nothing, we just wanted to avoid the realism of life/college/work/uni etc. It has a lot of heart and teen angst on that album which I don’t think we could truly do again even if we tried.
