You Am I Announce National 'Hi Fi Daily Double Down' Tour

You Am I are celebrating two of their seminal albums, with the band set to play both Hi Fi Way and Hourly, Daily on their upcoming Hi Fi Daily Double Down Tour.

Kicking off in Canberra on April 3rd, the group will play large-scale shows in Sydney, Melbourne, Hobart, Brisbane, Adelaide, Perth, and Newcastle over the following month. Pairing their incendiary live show with a healthy dose of nostalgia, the shows will see them playing both Hi Fi Way and Hourly, Daily in full.

Alongside the announcement of the shows, You Am I have also detailed a 30th anniversary reissue of Hi Fi Way.

Originally released in February 1995, the record saw the band teaming up with Sonic Youth's Lee Ranaldo, crafting an acclaimed record which topped the Aussie charts, went Gold, and saw the band win Best Alternative Release at the ARIAs for the second year in a row.

“31 years ago You Am I embarked on an amazing American adventure at the behest of their new friends Soundgarden,” You Am I remembered. “At the end of the six week tour, and against everyone’s advice, the band decamped to New York to knock out a new record in three weeks. 30 years ago that record came out and astonished every one.

“It was called Hi Fi Way and would go on to be a number one album without the hint of a hit or commercial radio airplay. It’s the sound of a band just doing what they do, no fuss and no fucking around. Fast forward to 2025 and You Am I is those same three dudes (plus one) and it’s time to celebrate.

“Timmy, Davey, Andy and Rusty are as pleased as punch to be bringing our twin album showcase the celebrated Hi Fi Daily Double back to a venue near you,” they added. “The Hi Fi Daily Double Down is a reprise of the now legendary 2013 shows captured on Live Electrified but with new twists and turns to make it as fresh as the faces that opened for Soundgarden in 1994.”

The forthcoming reissue is available to pre-order now ahead of its February 10th release, and comes pressed on blue vinyl, with digital packages, exclusive ticket and album bundles, and more also available.

“After nearly 40 years of working in radio, I had some time to finally breathe this year. I had the luxury of looking back. I started revisiting some favourite albums. Quite quickly, I realised there was an untold story around one of them - Hi Fi Way,” said Richard Kingsmill, who recently launched a podcast on the record.

“This record constantly makes great Australian album lists, and I thought I knew everything worth knowing about it. But once I started scratching away at it, I realised how wrong I was.”
