Lebanese-Australian, Eora-based alternative pop artist YAGKI is the spirit of giving this season, granting audiences from all over Australia a live-streamed 12 Days of Christmas music event, featuring a plethora of local music acts.
Kicking off on Friday, December 13th at 7PM AEDT, and running everyday until Christmas, the event aims to comfort those who may be feeling alone during the holidays. Live-streaming across several social media platforms, the event is therefore made accessible to those near and far who are wanting to ring in the Christmas spirit by listening in to conversations and performances from Australian artists.
In a press release, YAGKI said: “Growing up in housing commission homes, foster care, and young women's refuges, I understand the challenges and isolation that can come with these experiences. That's why I wanted to start this event—to reach out to people in similar situations and help them feel less alone, especially during the holiday season when everything tends to slow down,”
“Music has always been my way of connecting with myself and the world, no matter the obstacles I faced. I'm incredibly grateful to have a lineup of talented acts from across the country who are eager to chat and spend time with anyone who needs it this December."
Audiences can expect to hear from Melbourne-based singer, rapper, songwriter and producer r.em.edy, as well as fellow Eora-based alt-pop act jnr., Meanjin alt R&B and dark pop artist Ryelle, four-piece femme soul punk band DOWNGIRL, and so many more throughout the music event.
YAGKI is a go-getter in every sense of the word, having embarked on a One-Day Global Tour, playing stages in Australia, New Zealand and Los Angeles in one, single day in September. She also performed in Mexico and travelled to Cabo and Bali this year for several songwriting camps. It’s safe to say that a meaningful event like this, with an amazingly-curated lineup, can only be done by someone as driven and motivated as YAGKI.
