Andrew Stockdale's Wolfmother have completed their comeback of sorts today, with the release of a brand new – and surprise – album New Crown.

The band played a number of 'secret' and free shows late last year and with little explanation offered the album for stream and download last night.

The ten-track album was recorded in Los Angeles and Byron Bay, with Stockdale writing the material. Ian Peres plays bass and keys and Vin Steele plays drums on the album.

Stripped back from his previous, Stockdale appears to have looked to capture the grit of their debut and breakout EP.
