Artists added to longlist
The 37 Australian artists who are in with a chance of winning $30,000 have be revealed with the finalisation of The Coopers Amp’s longlist.
Three albums were added not long ago and today the final five have been revealed, with Bored Nothing’s Some Songs, John Butler Trio’s Flesh & Blood, Lowlakes’ Iceberg Nerves, Nun’s Nun and Sweet Amphetamines’ Duke all getting a nod.
The 37 will continue to be added to until they’re whittled down into the shortlist by the panel of 15 industry judges. The winner is announced in March next year. With a $30,000 prize donated by PPCA, The Coopers Amp is one of the country’s most prestigious awards.
Judging panel Chairperson Dave Faulkner said, “We've already listed over 250 albums for judging this year and we expect there'll be at least another 100 before we are done. Despite the heavy workload, the judges are still eager to hear more music. We always think that the best Australian album of 2014 might be the one we're about to hear.”
