New Comedy Series Co-created By Aunty Donna Member Hitting Aussie Screens Next Month

"We knew we wanted to make something we'd never really seen in Australia before."

A new comedy series co-created by Aunty Donna's Mark Samual Bonanno is set to premiere on ABC next month.

After being announced by the network late last year, it has now been confirmed that Why Are You Like This - "six hilarious and unapologetic episodes that follow three 20-something through the contemporary divisive socio-political hellscape of the modern world" - will premiere on 16 February.

Bonanno wrote the show alongside Naomi Higgins (who has written for Get Krackin’) and illustrator, writer and lawyer, Humyara Mahbub.

Check out the trailer below.

“We knew we wanted to make something we'd never really seen in Australia before - the original thought was, can we write the filthiest thing that's ever been on Australian TV, but shoot and produce it with style and beauty," the Why Are You Like This team said.

"Hence our new, young team was formed, with a fresh gaze we were able to approach every aspect of the project from non-traditional angles to make something that is not only truly collaborative, but a true testament to our original intentions."

The announce comes after Aunty Donna called for more support for Australian content during an episode of of The Green Room with Neil Griffiths podcast while promoting their Netflix series, Aunty Donna's Big Ol' House Of Fun.

"I think Australians need to fucking start watching good shit," Broden Kelly said.

"It's the same with music. Like, put on King Gizzard... there's awesome creators out there and you should just take the time and effort to go and find them and watch their stuff."
