Voting for the triple j Hottest 100 of 2024 closed yesterday, and already, the internet’s “most accurate” resource for Hottest 100 predictions, 100 Warm Tunas, might have a sneak peek into this year’s countdown.

While the 100 Warm Tunas rankings are no sure bet - as it’s based on screenshots and hashtags posted to social media - it correctly predicted the 2018 #1 (Ocean Alley’s Confidence) and the 2017 winner (Kendrick Lamar's HUMBLE).

For the 2020 countdown, 100 Warm Tunas correctly predicted that the UK outfit Glass Animals’ Heat Waves would come out on top of local bands. In 2021, 100 Warm Tunas predicted 84% of the songs in the top 100 tracks of the year, including the correct prediction of The WigglesLike A Version of Tame Impala’s Elephant.

Last year, though, the prediction that Troye Sivan’s Rush would come in at #1 wasn’t accurate—the song ended up at #8. Doja Cat ended up topping the countdown with Paint The Town Red.

This time, it seems that Chappell Roan’s breakthrough hit, Good Luck, Babe! is going to top the countdown, followed by Royel OtisLike A Version of Sophie Ellis-Bextor’s iconic Murder On The Dancefloor.

Other Aussie favourites who are predicted to land in the countdown include Ball Park Music, Amyl And The Sniffers, Dom Dolla, G Flip, The Rions, Ocean Alley, and more.
