It’s been an incredible week for Vika & Linda, who have landed at #1 on the Australian Albums Chart with their new album, Where Do You Come From?, after being inducted into the ARIA Hall of Fame on Thursday (11 June). Additionally, the album hit #11 on the overall ARIA Albums Chart and #5 on the Vinyl Chart.
Where Do You Come From? marks the sisters’ first full-length album of predominantly original material since 1996’s Princess Tabu and finds them returning to a songwriting style rekindled through the process of writing their 2022 memoir, No Bull.
Vika & Linda have consistently lent their voices to other Australian music legends – think The Black Sorrows, Hunters & Collectors, Archie Roach, and John Farnham – but with their latest record, the sisters have stepped into the limelight to share their story.
Reacting to the news of their ARIA Australian Albums Chart #1, the sisters said, “We thought this week couldn’t get any better. It’s ended with a bang!! We’re blown away by the response to our new album ‘Where Do You Come From?’, thank you to everyone who got it to # 1. We feel very lucky to have a wonderful team who have worked incredibly hard.”
