'Horror Movie' has never sounded so meaty
Melburnian melodic metal oufit Envenomed have tipped their hats to Aussie glam icons Skyhooks with a new cover and tribute video to the latter's iconic 1974 hit, Horror Movie.
The band have pulled out all the stops for the homage, not only mirroring the amusement-park setting of the original Horror Movie clip — and slowly adding costumes to evoke the well-dressed theatricality of Skyhooks themselves — but also securing a cameo from one-time Skyhooks guitarist and Aussie-icon-in-his-own-right Red Symons.
One would presume he's given it his stamp of approval, considering his apparently cheery involvement (well, cheery for Red, anyway), but we're nonetheless left asking — would he have given it the brutality of the pre-emptive gong back in his Red Faces days?
Yes, probably. Yes.

Just as well for the rest of us that those days are behind him, then — we can sit back and enjoy every last wail, double-kick and hair flick without fear of interruption. And trust us, there are plenty.
Enjoy, friends:
Envenomed are launching the track at Cherry Bar on Friday 26 August with special guests Witchgrinder and Direblaze. See theGuide for more information.
The band's most recent EP, Reckoning, was released in February; grab it at their website.
