Watch Against Me! Cover Rowland S. Howard's 'Shivers'

The stalwart punk outfit takes on the work of an Aussie legend

More Rowland S. Howard Rowland S. Howard

Gainesville, Florida-based punk mainstays Against Me! have been captured in live footage performing a cover of Shivers, by the late, great Australian musician Rowland S. Howard.

Playing at the Brooklyn Bowl in Las Vegas on Friday night, the band, led by the powerful vocals of frontwoman Laura Jane Grace, expertly deliver an evocative, up-tempo, punked-up acoustic version of the song, for which they actually get a pretty appreciative response from their American crowd. Whether the majority of those applauding know for whom they are really putting their hands together is neither here nor there — it's a great cover, and it's a wonderful tribute to one of this country's finest.

Liberation Music recently announced that it will be releasing an anthology collection of Howard's extensive catalogue, titled Six Strings That Drew Blood, on October 24, which would have been Howard’s 55th birthday.

Along with Six Strings That Drew Blood’s release,  Howard fans can enjoy a set of special tribute shows centred on his final work, Pop Crimes, which will go down on October 23 and 24 at Melbourne’s Foxtel Festival Hub during the Melbourne Festival, October 25 and 26 at Adelaide’s Wheatsheaf Hotel, and November 1 at the Metro Theatre, in Sydney.
