The Vans Warped Tour returns to Australia for the first time in many a year this December, with a stack of mainstream punk rock heroes on the bill already with a few more still to come. Today the event has announced a charitable initiative that looks to help feed the poor, allowing charitable fans to “skip the line” in return for their generosity.
Punters can bring along three cans of food or five dollars cash, which will be donated to the Feed Our Children NOW! campaign, which looks to help feed the disadvantaged in our community. The initiative was launched in New Jersey in 2007 and has been a popular part of the US Warped Tour ever since.
Warped Tour's Kevin Lyman said that the massive success of the campaign in the US meant they simply had to bring it to Australia with the event.
“This program has become so successful on the US tour that when given a chance to continue this on our Australia run we felt we had to,” Lyman said. “Hunger is universal, and if our fans can help minimize it, it makes it all the more worth-while to do what we do.”
