Looking at tour posters, it’s fair to say that some punters wish their favourite bands and artists were playing closer to their home. How about the backyard?

The Temper Trap and Mushroom Music are offering fans that very opportunity with a competition called “Win An Exclusive Backyard Performance.” All that’s required is a pre-order of their forthcoming album, Sungazer.

Fans who pre-order the band’s new album on vinyl, CD or digital through the Mushroom Music store will enter the draw to win an intimate, acoustic performance from The Temper Trap—just for you and twenty friends.

Multiple entries are allowed, and those who have already pre-ordered the album will be automatically entered into the competition. Sungazer is scheduled for release on Friday, 10 July, via Mushroom Music. You can pre-order your copy of the record here.

Sungazer marks The Temper Trap’s first album of new material in ten years. To celebrate, they’re embarking on a massive tour across Australia in September, but before then, they’ll join Muse on an expansive North American run.

Opening up about their energetic new album, The Temper Trap said, “With time apart and much personal growth from us all, Sungazer feels like it’s captured the most pure collection of music we’ve ever made.

“We had more fun making this record and in the writing room than on any of the previous records we’ve done. We’re in a great place creatively, and in our friendships, we’re closer than ever. Being back in the studio together really felt like coming home.”

Following the release of their 2008 UK Top 10 debut single, Sweet Disposition, which featured on their debut album, 2009’s Conditions, The Temper Trap racked up multi-Platinum success in Australia and Gold status in the UK.

The band followed up the success of their debut album with their 2012 self-titled album and 2016’s Thick As Thieves. One of the most in-demand groups from Australia, The Temper Trap has won multiple ARIA Awards and amassed billions of streams.
