WagonsThere's a new album from Melburnain country collective Wagons on the way, with the band this afternoon announcing that Acid Rain and Sugar Cane will be released this May.
This is the band's first album since 2011's Rumble, Shake and Tumble and their first with the masterful Mick Harvey (Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds, The Birthday Party) on board as co-producer and musician.
Bandleader Henry Wagons confirmed details of the new record on the band's Facebook this afternoon.
βI'm very excited to announce the May 16 Australian release of the new Wagons album 'Acid Rain and Sugar Cane', the first band album since 2011. Long, loud and pleasurable in the making, this album was sewn together in the midst of a beautifully dynamic creative tornado formed between Wagons and co-producer Mick Harvey.
"Harvey plays along with the band on every track, with each song's bones coming together live, in its own time, all in the one room, in the midst of fine drink and wild tales at my wood-lined and furry studio atop Mount Martha on Victoria's Mornington Peninsula. After all the performances were captured, I flew the album to the States, to be given an incredibly immersive stereoscopic space courtesy of mixing mastermind Matt 'Linny' Linesch (Edward Sharpe & The Magnetic Zeros engineer).β

βIt's without a doubt our most ambitious and broad-reaching album to date, full of guitar electricity and bombastic bad-ass Vegas production, from sassy horns and Rat Pack strings through to high voice female choirs.... and I CANNOT WAIT for you to hear it!!β
