Beloved Australian rockers Violent Soho are returning to the stage. Following a four-year hiatus, the band have today announced an East Coast tour taking place this September.

Today’s announcement follows the recent tenth anniversary of the band’s acclaimed album, WACO, commemorated with a limited-edition vinyl release.

Speculation about the band’s return was fuelled last month when lead vocalist and guitarist Luke Boerdam and guitarist James Tidswell joined blink-182’s Mark Hoppus on stage at the Sydney Opera House for a rendition of Dammit. At the time, Hoppus remarked to fans, “I wasn’t joking, by the way, they really are getting back together.”

And now, the official reunion tour is here.

Violent Soho’s upcoming tour begins at Sydney’s Enmore Theatre on Friday, 11 September. It continues at Melbourne’s Forum on Friday, 18 September, and concludes with a hometown show at Brisbane’s Fortitude Music Hall on Friday, 25 September.

Joining the band on tour are Beddy Rays – opening all shows – alongside Teenage Joans, playing in Brisbane and Sydney, and Secret World in Melbourne.

Fans can access pre-sale tickets by signing up for the band’s mailing list. The pre-sale commences on Thursday, 23 April, at 10 am local time, followed by the general sale on Friday, 24 April, at 10 am local time. You can find more ticketing information on the Violent Soho website.

“Some dudes play golf, we play in a band,” Violent Soho said. “For us, that band is Violent Soho, and we missed making noise together. After 20-plus years, though, we’ve learned not to force it. There’s a lot of history, music, and tours behind us, and we can't wait to get back out there and play some shows again. When we took a break, we said, ‘Until Next Time’ and now feels like that time.”

Since their formation in 2004, the Brisbane outfit established themselves as one of the most engaging, in-demand live acts in Australia.

While they were active, Violent Soho took home two ARIA Awards for Best Rock Album and Best Group, and an AIR Award for Best Hard Rock, Metal or Punk Album, and achieved several Double Platinum, Platinum and Gold singles. Their impact remains to this day, with Covered in Chrome landing at #40 on triple j’s recent Hottest 100 Australian Songs of All Time.

The band’s most recent albums, 2020’s Everything Is A-OK and 2016’s WACO, debuted at #1 on the ARIA Charts. The 2023 tenth anniversary edition of Hungry Ghost scored the band a #1 Australian Album on the ARIA Charts.

Four years after announcing an indefinite hiatus, Violent Soho are back, and they’re ready to get loud.
