Vanfest's 2016 Line-up Is Random As Hell But, Damn, It's Good

2 September 2016 | 11:20 am | Staff Writer

The regional music fest returns to Forbes, NSW, in November

Regional music festival Vanfest has unveiled a wonderfully eclectic line-up for this year's event, juxtaposing the folksy introspection of Angus & Julia Stone against The Rubens' brand of glistening alt-rock, Xavier Rudd's acclaimed roots manoeuvres, Drapht's celebrated rap stylings, the prog-rock power of Dead Letter Circus and more.

Also set to grace the two-day camping festival, held at the showgrounds of NSW town Forbes in November, are the likes of electro-house luminaries The Potbelleez, emergent chanteuse Vera Blue, lauded DJ Tigerlily, indie singer-songwriter Hein Cooper, evergreen hip hop favourite Urthboy, beloved larrikin DJs Mashd N Kutcher and ascendant artist E^ST.

The festival started from humble father-son origins two years ago as a quest by Tullamore native Matt Clifton and his father, Grant — the owner of the town's Vandenberg Hotel — to bring quality entertainment to the region, and they've done that since over two successful instalments that have brought to Forbes the likes of Rudimental, John Butler Trio, Peking Duk, Chet Faker and Matt Corby, among others.

"It really is such a credit to the local community and region for the huge support they have given over the past couple of years," Clifton jr said in a statement. "We would not be here without their ongoing involvement. Vanfest will continue to build, and bring the Central West an event they can be proud to call their own."
