Winner to take home $50,000 cash
Entries for the 2013 Vanda & Young Song Competition are now open, with a $65,000 cash prize pool to be split amongst the first three prizes.
Described as the largest songwriting competition of its type in the world, a first prize of $50,000 has been donated by founding partners APRA|AMCOS and Alberts, with $10,000 for second and $5,000 – donated by Ubisoft – for third. The biannual competition was awarded to Megan Washington for How To Tame Lions in 2009 and Kimbra's Cameo Lover in 2011.
Open to anyone in the world, the $50 per-song entry fee is donated to Nordoff Robbins Music Therapy Australia.
This year the judges include internationals Gary Go, Stuart Crichton, Arnthor Birgisson, Chris de Stefano and Mark Moffatt as well as locals including Louis Schoorl, Jenny Morris, Catherine Haridy, Kav Temperley, Kevin Mitchell, Adalita, Stavros Yiannoukas, Jon Stevens, Brendan Gallagher and Graham Bidstrup.
