Universal Music Australia Is Opening A New Recording Studio

Studio time

Located in a neighbourhood with a rich musical history, Forbes Street Studios is the latest Universal Music Australia (UMA) venture that will offer state of the art recording facilities and equipment to a slew of musicians.

Set to open this October, Forbes Street Studios will be situated on William Street and Forbes Street in Woolloomooloo, Sydney — opposite the UMA label’s powerhouse HQ where artists like Tame Impala, Matt Corby and Andy Bull are signed.

Rumour has it Forbes Street Studios will be equipped with SSL consoles, a writing room with high-end vocal recording capabilities, an audio over IP interview booth, plus a comprehensive Avid editing suit.

With UMA reviving its ‘70s disco label Casablanca, which kick-started the careers of icons (Donna Summer, KISS), plus the location of Forbes Street Studios paying homage to its geographical predecessors Paradise Studios (Cold Chisel, Midnight Oil, Iva Davis), it isn’t too outlandish to suggest the street may have talent sewn into the pavement.
