UNIFY Q&A: Earth Caller

We get the UNIFY bands to answer some quick-fire questions for us, continuing with Earth Caller's Josh Collard.

Inaugural two-day musical festival, UNIFY takes place this January.

The likes of The Amity AfflictionThy Art Is MurderNorthlane, and more will converge on South Gippsland.

We get the bands to answer some quick-fire questions for us, continuing with Earth Caller's Josh Collard.

What are you most looking forward to about UNIFY?

I'm sorry to answer your question with a question, but what's not to look forward to? (laughs).

I actually can't decide whether playing to a sold out festival crowd with the biggest legends I know, in one of the most beautiful parts of Victoria, is the best part or camping with them all afterwards and getting our collective buzz on.

Three essential albums for any camping trip

There are only two essentials I have when it comes to camping; Brad Paisley's Greatest Hits Album & my best buds. That's what makes me a happy camper.

Essential items for the festival rider

Our backstage rider is very simple;

  1. Brad Paisley's Greatest Hits Album
  2. Backstage passes for all my best buds

Which band member would have the best survival skills if stranded in the bush?

I couldn’t pick, EC are all the survival type. Monty & I both got that killer instinct, predator type skillset but Blake and Luke have that oneness with nature and could probably summon animals to their defense.

Which bands song will become the eventual anthem for UNIFY?

Reign Of Darkness - Thy Art Is Murder because that song describes how hard everyone will be coming down on the 12th (laughs).

Best thing about music festivals?

Being able to play a show wearing shorts & sunnies and thongs, also being able to smoke a Wendy on stage with no ventilation issues.

Worst mistake you can make at a festival?

Getting pregnant.

Hypothetical: it’s 40 degrees and you need sunscreen. You can only obtain it if you trade in all the alcohol in your rider. Which do you choose and why?

Big surprise, but I'm still taking the alcohol. Look, it's 40 degrees so sunscreen or no you're gonna burn! So if you're gonna burn anyway it's a lot easier to do so with your whole rider on deck. Just crack a beer, find some shade and embrace lookin like a lobster for a couple weeks.
