The label will be based out of Melbourne

UK-originated record label Cooking Vinyl have confirmed their expansion to Australia, with the label based in Melbourne.

The local arm will be known as Cooking Vinyl Australia and at the forefront of operations will be Leigh Gruppetta and Stu Harvey. Both previously held posts at Shock Records, with Gruppetta in the role of General Manager, Music and Harvey the Senior International Label Manager position prior to the major restructure the label underwent earlier this year.

CVA will sign local and international artists and already have a number of upcoming releases in the pipeline from Glasvegas, NYPC, High Tension, Fur Trade, The Stepkids, Turin Brakes, Twin Forks, Dinosaur Bones and The Flatliners. The label's distribution partner is Caroline Label Services.

The independent label began back in 1986, garnering a reputation as one of Europe's standout artist-focussed labels. Over the years, they have represented a wide range of artists from Billy Bragg to The Cult and currently oversee releases from Amanda Palmer, The Prodigy and Marilyn Manson.
