It's been a big week for San Cisco. The Aussie group's hits Skin and Reasons have reached Gold status in Australia, and yesterday, they unveiled their new single, Lost Without You.
"Skin and Reasons went gold, and we owe it all to you," the band posted on Instagram, with guitarist Joshua Biondillo holding the plaque gifted to the band by ARIA.
Lost Without You, their first new song since their 2020 album, Between You & Me, is complemented by a vintage-looking music video that sees two people fall head-over-heels in love while on the run.
Lost Without You is a collaboration with producer James Ireland (Pond, Cuco) and was mixed by Grammy award-winning engineer Neal H. Pogue (Steve Lacy, Tyler The Creator, Outkast).
Discussing the new single, San Cisco explain that it "is about the work that needs to go into a relationship. It isn’t always sunshine and rainbows, and it takes a conscious effort to make things work. We can also forget how important someone is to us and all the meaningful history and challenges that come with a longer relationship. 'You're my best friend, and I wouldn’t want to do this with anyone else, but fuck, it's hard sometimes.'"
Addressing the music video, the band notes, "We had a ball filming this Bonnie And Clyde inspired clip in Ipswich. We worked with Levi Strauss Cranston and a brilliant team of creatives over three days in the Queensland heat to bring you this gem inspired by 60's new wave cinema and B Grade spy/detective films of the same era. Scarlett [Stevens, drums] loved playing a sexy double agent!"

The Fremantle indie-rockers have some big shows ahead of them, performing at the Supercars Newcastle 500 and the 2023 Formula 1 Grand Prix in Melbourne over March. San Cisco fans can also catch them elsewhere, with appearances booked at Adelaide’s Vintage Vibes, Western Australia’s SummerSalt Festival, Darwin’s Bass In The Grass and Bali’s 2023 Dream Machine Festival.
Lost Without You is the first taste of music from San Cisco's forthcoming, currently unnamed new album.
After its release in late 2020, Between You And Me (The Music’s Album Of The Week) peaked at #3 on the ARIA Albums chart and was named triple j’s Feature Album.
