The release of one of Adelaide’s most anticipated albums of the year is fast approaching.
Alt-country noise-rock band Twine - long a favourite of the indie scene - is mere weeks away from finally releasing their long-awaited debut album, New Old Horse. The album is officially set to grace all streaming platforms on December 6th, but vinyl preorders are available for purchase now through Kitty Records.
“I am excited,” band frontman Tom Katsaras told The Music in October when discussing the imminent album release. “I’ve gone through lots of phases of hating it, then liking it. But I’m back to liking it again.”
Two singles from the album have been released in the past two months the most recent being Fruit To Ripe, a short but complex track that showcases Katsaras’s distinctive, poignant voice and unique musical sensibility. Sleeping Dogs, released in early October, likewise solidifies Twine as a standout of the genre. It is a song that is texturally interesting, yes, but also boasts a strong and sensitive narrative voice that makes the noise that the song is couched in even more interesting.

A launch for New Old Horse hosted by independent Adelaide-based label Swirl Records is taking place on December 7th, the day after the official album release. Music will be kicking off in the Exeter Beer Garden from 4 pm, and Twine will be joined by openers Perfect 50 and The Genevieves, both lauded indie rock acts in their own right.
The Exeter gig has a $10 entry fee, and an afterparty will commence at the neighbouring bar Smokelovers.
The launch, full of cathartic, complex music, won’t be one to miss.
