Baltimore hardcore outfit Turnstile returned to the NPR offices for a new Tiny Desk Concert—and made history while they were at it.
Performing reimagined versions of songs from their latest album, NEVER ENOUGH, featuring piano and a horn section – Tobias Moody on saxophone, Theljon Allen on trumpet, and Troy Long on piano – Turnstile made sure the show didn’t end without some fun.
The history-defining moment occurred towards the end of the set, about 14 minutes into the video. During the breakdown of the final song of the set, BIRDS, vocalist Brendan Yates executed the first-ever stage dive and the subsequent crowd surf in Tiny Desk history.
You can watch the stage dive below.
Turnstile and the horn section performed NEVER ENOUGH tracks DREAMING, SUNSHOWER, I CARE, the title track, and BIRDS.
Earlier in the set, Yates reflected on the impact of playing a hometown show in the NPR office for their families and friends.

“This being somewhat of a hometown show for us, there’s a lot of very important people in the room,” he said.
“A lot of personal heroes, a lot of people that we grew up with, people that are family, people that are friends, people we found music with, people that we made music with. All that to say, thank you for always being there, and I love you.”
After performing at the 2023 Laneway Festival and a string of headline shows, Turnstile will return to Australia for Beyond The Valley festival in late December. At the time of publication, no sideshows have been announced, but given the hype around the band, we wouldn’t be surprised to see some more gigs revealed soon.
In other Turnstile news, it was recently announced that the band would feature on the NHL 26 and Skate reboot video game soundtracks alongside Aussie acts including Amyl And The Sniffers, Ecca Vandal, REDD., TOWNS, Teen Jesus And The Jean Teasers, and more.
