The veteran British band make their first appearance at the festival in 2017
Seven albums into their storied career, British indie vets Turin Brakes will make their Byron Bay Bluesfest debut in 2017, and they're padding the trip with a pair of sideshow gigs to boot.
The London-bred band will warm up for their Bluesfest performance with a show at Sydney's Newtown Social Club, heading down to Northcote Social Club, in Melbourne, a few days later as the festival gets under way up in Byron.
Turin Brakes released their seventh studio album, Lost Property, in January this year, the record joining an oeuvre that represents more than 1 million units sold as well as a reputation for live shows that resonate with crowds of any size.
It's Australia's turn to get to experience this latest chapter in the band's eventful journey, which began almost 20 years ago, in 1999, with childhood mates Olly Knights and Gale Paridjanian, who released their debut album, The Optimist in 2001 and haven't looked back. Joined by long-term collaborators Rob Allum (drums) and Eddie Myer (bass), the band are sure to rise to the occasion when they step out for their headline shows in April next year.
Tickets for both shows go on sale at 10am (AEDT) this Wednesday, 26 October, via Bluesfest Touring.
The 28th Byron Bay Bluesfest will be held at Tyagarah Tea Tree Farm from 13-17 April 2017.
