As we approach the end of another year, triple j is starting to share data from the last 12 months, including which artists were played the most throughout 2024.
In rounding up the top 50 artists played on triple j this year, the national youth broadcaster has highlighted some truly impressive stats, such as Australian artists making up 80% of the top ten and more than half (27 out of 50) featuring at least one non-male member.
In terms of international artists, the power of Billie Eilish (#7), The Last Dinner Party (#15), Charli XCX (#18), Tate McRae (#22), Glass Animals (#25), Bring Me The Horizon (#34), Olivia Rodrigo (#39), and Gracie Abrams (#45) is unsurprising, with all them recently dropping new albums and touring Australia this year (or in early 2025, in the case of Charli XCX, Gracie Abrams and Billie Eilish).
When it comes to local talent, triple j is still spinning plenty, from indie rock to pop to electronic and everything in between.
Longtime favourites such as Lime Cordiale, Thelma Plum, RÜFÜS DU SOL, Middle Kids, Genesis Owusu, Confidence Man, and The Rubens shared space with newer players such as Royel Otis, The Buoys, Peach PRC, Nick Ward, Teen Jesus And The Jean Teasers, 3%, Telenova, and more on triple j this year, and it shows.
Here are the top 50 artists who were played on triple j this year:
