"We can't wait to spend our mornings with a couple of million music-obsessed mates.”

Triple J has announced a massive shake-up for its 2020 line-up, confirming that Ben & Liam will leave the breakfast show to make way for Sally & Erica of hip hop duo Coda Conduct.

The youth broadcaster confirmed today that Ben & Liam have taken up a new opportunity next year in their hometown of Adelaide.

"We’ve had an absolute blast at triple j. Never in our wildest dreams did we think two dweebs doing community radio in Adelaide would get a crack at a gig like this," Ben & Liam said in a statement today.

"Thanks for waking up with us, listening to our shit talk and sharing your stories, we’ll be forever grateful.”

Meanwhile, Sally & Erica will take on the breakfast slot having presented Weekend Arvos since 2018.

“We love making radio that makes you feel like you're just chatting with your friends," the Canberra duo said.

"We're really pumped to get your stories, discover new stuff together, nerd out about music, and talk about the real shit and the dumb shit. Think Oprah Winfrey meets Flight Of The Conchords.”

Sally & Erica got their start in radio at FBi in 2015, before moving to triple j where they presented a weekly hip hop segment on breakfast with then-hosts, Matt & Alex.

Since taking over breakfast in 2017 from Matt & Alex, Ben & Liam have struggled to make an impact in the radio ratings during their time at triple j and in the most recent survey, dropped in all cities excluding Adelaide.

Ben & Liam will wrap up their show this week, before Lucy Smith takes over the slot from Monday 4 November for the remainder of the year.

UPDATE 2.45pm

It has today been announced that Ben & Liam will move to the Nova network where they will take over breakfast on Adelaide's 91.1FM.

As Mumbrella reports, the duo will head back to their home town to host the slot from next year.

“We’ve been watching their progress for some time and with recent announcements around our Adelaide breakfast show, the perfect opportunity has arisen for us to bring the boys back to their hometown of Adelaide," Nova Entertainment chief programming and marketing officer, Paul Jackson, said.

"The guys have great chemistry, tell great stories and are laugh out loud funny. I’m sure the Nova Adelaide listeners are going to love them."

Ben & Liam will take over from Dylan Lewis, who recently launched a new music series with Recovery co-host Jane Gazzo, and Hayley Pearson.
