“It's such an integral part of The Triffid, to celebrate Queensland's incredible music community and as a way to support emerging artists."

The annual Triffid Album Of The Year will kick off once again this November, with five of Queensland's most loved artists going up for the accolade.

Presented in association with The Music, the award will see the winner not just receiving the honour of their album being named best of the year, but will also have their win immortalised on the coveted Triffid Hero Wall - joining such hallowed names as The Go Betweens, Powderfinger, The Chats and many more.

“It's such an integral part of The Triffid," the venue's co-owner John 'JC' Collins explains, "to celebrate Queensland's incredible music community and as a way to support emerging artists."

One lucky voter will also win a very special prize - the annual Triffid Golden Ticket, which allows the user free entry into every Triffid gig in 2022.

Indie-pop darling Tia Gostelow is up for her second win this year, thanks to her electro-laden follow-up album Chrysalis.

Meanwhile, fellow AOTY alumni Cub Sport are also vying for that all-elusive multiple win. They're up for the award thanks to their ARIA #1 release, Like Nirvana.

Twin pop juggernauts The Veronicas managed to sneak in two albums during the eligibility period this year - their first albums in seven years, the release Godzilla is in the running as well.

It's also been a fair while in between releases for Brissy hardcore five-piece Stepson. Their newest LP Help Me, Help You has got the thrashers comfortably amongst their competition.

Rounding out the proceedings for this year is indie songstress and stalwart of the Aus music landscape Washington. Her recent album Batflowers won best cover art at the 2020 ARIA Music Awards and the title track was listed in the Top 40 of the Vanda & Young Global songwriting competition.
