Cyndi Lauper began her Girls Just Wanna Have Fun Farewell tour in Melbourne last night (2 April), and she had a surprise for her fans in attendance at Rod Laver Arena.
On the twelfth song of her set, the classic Time After Time, the American singer was joined by Melbourne’s own Tones And I. Tones entered the stage during the first verse, highlighting how her vocals fit perfectly alongside Lauper’s. The pair took on the chorus and sang the rest of the song together.
At the end of the performance, Lauper said to Tones And I, “No matter what, keep doing what you’re doing, keep writing, keep writing, keep writing.”
On her Instagram Stories, Tones And I said of the performance, “That was incredible! Cyndi Lauper something I will never forget as long as I live. Singing with an absolute legend / icon strength among women. Wow.”
