Not Even Taylor Swift Can Stop Tones & I's ARIA Chart Reign

Here's how this week's charts rounded up.

As predicted in the midweek figures, Taylor Swift's new album Lover has dominated the ARIA charts like no other record has in 2019, but it still wasn't enough to dethrone emerging Aussie artist Tones & I from the top of the Singles list.

The Byron Bay-based songwriter's streak with Dance Monkey has extended to five straight weeks at #1, which is the first time a local act has achieved the feat since Sydney's Dean Lewis also notched up a five week streak last year with Be Alright.

Meanwhile, Dance Monkey has again surged on this week's UK Singles chart, climbing to #40.

Back home, 13 tracks from Swift's Lover have placed in the top 50, beating this year's record set by Billie Eilish's When We All Fall Asleep, Where Do We Go? which scored 12 songs in the list this past April.

Swift tracks landing in the top 50 this week include Lover (#3), You Need To Calm Down (#14), The Man (#17), Cruel Summer (#22), I Forgot That You Existed (#24), Paper Rings (#29), Miss Americana & The Heartbreak Prince (#32), I Think He Knows (#34), The Archer (#36), Cornelia Street (#40), ME! (#41), London Boy (#42) and Death By A Thousand Cuts (#48).

Sydney outfit 5 Seconds Of Summer's Teeth was the only other new entry on the Singles chart this week which has debuted at #30.

Over on the Albums chart, Swift's seventh LP has unsurprisingly debuted at #1 (gifting the US superstar her fifth-straight Australian #1 record) and beat out Ed Sheeran’s No 6 Collaborations Project at #2 and BROCKHAMPTON's GINGER at #3.

Other album debuts this week include Tropical Fuck Storm's Braindrops (#10), WAAX's Big Grief (#11), Winterbourne's Echo Of Youth (#24), Dan Mullins' Duende (#35), Young Thug's So Much Fun (#36), Knocked Loose's A Different Shade Of Blue (#49) and Midland's Let It Roll (#72).
