Tomahawk's Video For 'South Paw' Is Horrifying Stuff

16 August 2014 | 2:08 pm | Staff Writer

Mike Patton and co. go all Muppets from hell for a new clip

Something-rock supergroup Tomahawk released their new video for the track South Paw, from last year's LP Oddfellows, this week, and to say that it is probably the most accurate visual depiction the cacophony of the composition could have asked for is no real stretch.

To wit, it's very close to a living nightmare.

The band members — Mike Patton, ex-The Jesus Lizard guitarist Duane Denison, ex-Helmet/Battles/The Mark Of Cain drummer John Stanier, and bassist Kevin Rutmanis of Melvins/Cows — all get a low-budget puppet treatment, the camera gets a horror-film close-up hard-on and the song tantrums its way between viscious/thrashy and droney/driven. And the whole time, those goddamn puppets rock out like the world is ending around them.

It's not gonna be for everyone, but if you've ever heard Tomahawk, then you already know that, and nightmare puppets aren't going to stop you now. Get amongst it below:
