We are streaming Son of Rogue's Gallery: Pirate Ballads, Sea Songs & Chanteys before its release on Friday.
There's not likely to a be a record more star-studded than Son of Rogues Gallery: Pirate Ballads, Sea Songs & Chanteys released for some time and we're mighty pleased to be able to bring you the monstrous double album in full this afternoon.
Producer Hal Willner has called in favours from just about every legendary recording artist you could want to bring this pirate themed release to life, with performances from Tom Waits, Keith Richards, Iggy Pop, Nick Cave, Patti Smith, Sean Lennon, Robyn Hitchcock, Dr. John, Todd Rundgren, Michael Gira, Matthew Sweet, Broken Social Scene… look, let's just say there are a lot of amazing artists involved and leave it at that.
It was with Johnny Depp and director Gore Verbinski on the set of Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man's Chest that Willner came up with the concept for these records. Unsurprisingly the songs sound stunning and the seafaring concept is carried through the entire project gloriously.
