Spending most of his time these days overseas, it’s clear he’s picked up a general consensus as to how other countries view some of Australia’s dated policies, and to convey that, he’s reworked I Still Call Australia Home by “that fabulous, much-missed genius, Peter Allen”.
“I think the proposed plebiscite on marriage equality is noxious and obnoxious,” Minchin says at the end of the video.
“Polls show that Aussies are overwhelmingly in favour of marriage equality (not that is should matter… It’s not fucking X-Factor).
“If the horrid thing goes ahead, let’s drown the mofos in ‘yes’ votes. The condescending shits think by making it postal, young people won’t vote – prove them wrong.”
After being online for only two hours, Minchin’s latest musical hit has racked up more than 250,000 hits.
