Jarryd James - Thirty One (Dryden St/Universal)

Singer Jarryd James, “Brisbane’s most visible shy guy”, scores Album Of The Week this week with Thirty One. He’s come a long way since juggling full-time work as a youth worker and music last year and “the songs here are made to reflect the kind of seminal tracks that inspired James himself”. Fresh off Splendour In The Grass, it’s a smashing debut solo release and we gave it four stars.

The new record from the British act was always going to get attention, but their fifth album has made a different impact on fans and the wider audience.

I Know Leopard - Another Life (Independent)

Sydneysiders I Know Leopard have had a massive year and are currently in the depths of BIGSOUND before heading out on tour with Gang Of Youths. The new EP is the “the sound of summer” and “centres around nostalgia and second chances”. We had the pleasure of hosting an exclusive stream of their new EP, Another Life, this week and also gave it three-and-a-half stars.
