The Sydney indie-punk outfit are ramping up for the release of their debut album this month
It's Sunday (Sunday! Sunday!), and that means it's time, once again, for us to recommend an underappreciated Australian act for you to help while away the hours before the working week restarts and reclaims your will to live.
This week, we're hopping back from the west to poke our noses back into Sydney for a date with one of the city's hardest-working young indie-punk acts, who are now only days out now from dropping their debut album — though don't let the inaugural language fool you: this is one well-accomplished group of young musicians.
They may only just be preparing for the release of their debut full-length in just over a week, but stalwart Sydney indie-punk crew Oslow have been slogging it out on local stages for the better part of the past five years now.

Listening back to their discography on Bandcamp, the fruits of those labours are on obvious display over the course of their surprisingly deep oeuvre: since releasing their debut EP, The Field, back in 2012, the band have grown from scrappy but self-assured young angst-rockers into a musically and emotionally mature group of songwriters, as evidenced by the obvious distinction of their most recent single and album preview cut, Cold Dark Space.
Their creative excellence is bolstered by a colourful and accomplished live history that has seen them rub shoulders with the likes of Title Fight, PUP, La Dispute and Balance & Composure, as well as being a key part of Sydney's vibrant alternative/indie/punk/emo/DIY scene, sharing the aural and attitudinal space shared with the likes of HANNAHBAND, Ted Danson With Wolves and Corpus as well as interstate counterparts such as Luca Brasi and Seahorse Divorce (RIP).
With the album almost released and their proverbial ducks finally lining up nicely in a row, Oslow are set to make 2017 a truly breakthrough year and, who knows, maybe we'll even see one of their album's tracks on next January's Hottest 100. Sure would be nice, right?
Either way, you can treat your ears and chalk yourself up a new band to add to your favourites below, or swing them a like on Facebook to stay in the know for when they're next hitting a stage near you.
Got an independent band? Got a Bandcamp page (y'know, because the title really doesn't work without it)?
