The triple j Unearthed Laneway comp for the 2024 festival has officially opened, giving musos the chance to perform at their state’s Laneway Festival alongside some major names as well as local legends.

If your dream is to take the stage alongside acts like Stormzy, Steve Lacy and Dominic Fike, then this is your sign to enter, with the festival taking on one act from the competition from each state to perform at their local event.

Last year saw some epic talent come out of the competition, including Abby Bella May (NSW), Coldwave (SA), FELIVAND (QLD), PRICIE (VIC) and Siobhan Cotchin (WA).

Winners of the comp will join an array of beloved local talent as well as international acts, with the stacked lineup being announced on September 1.

Raye was confirmed to be on the bill after her song Black Mascara was used in a teaser clip ahead of the line-up drop, while elsewhere, Laneway organisers have booked British rapper AJ Tracey, Atlanta-based singer-songwriter Faye Webster, actress, model and singer Suki Waterhouse, English DJ Nia Archives, New Zealand rock band Unknown Mortal Orchestra, and many more.

On the local front, Laneway 2024 is represented by Aussie favourites Angie McMahon, Dope Lemon, Confidence Man, Teenage Dads, Miss Kaninna, Vacations, and many more.

Laneway 2024 kicks off at Brisbane Showgrounds on Saturday, 3 February, then heads to Sydney Showgrounds on Sunday, 4 February, before going to Bonython Park in Adelaide on Friday, 9 February.

Saturday, 10 February, will see the event take over The Park, Flemington in Melbourne and then Sunday, 11 February’s final show will be in Wellington Square in Perth.

The Music reviewer David James Young summarised that the Sydney 2023 edition of the festival was “Slickly run, well executed and confidently putting its best foot forward after a long period of uncertainty surrounding Australian festivals' sustainability as a whole”, calling Laneway’s vibes “hopeful”.

Young continued, “Not only can this be done, but it can also be done well – maybe even better than it's ever been. Watch this space.”
