Fresh Finds: Class Of 2025 – Aussie Acts To Add To Your Playlist

The Triffid To Host A Free Hottest 100 Party This Weekend

The party kicks off at 11 am – your weekend plans sorted!

Looking for a fun and free way to experience triple j’s Hottest 100 this Saturday? The Triffid has you covered with entertainment in the beer garden, Hottest 100 Countdown Bingo, beer pong, exclusive cocktails, and more throughout the big day. The excitement kicks off at 11 am, with Bcharre hitting the decks once the countdown has come to a close to keep the party pumping.

The winner of Hottest 100 Countdown bingo will win a double pass to any show at The Triffid in 2023 (T&C’s apply), a merch pack and bevo voucher. There’s prizes to be won for beer pong and jug holding extraordinaires, the live room will be transformed into a handball arena, while more prizes will be given as the games will roll out. The Triffid is dishing out bevo tabs, t shirts, and double passes alongside Hottest cocktails.

Hottest 100 isn’t just a poll, it’s an institution. It’s a watermark against which many listeners cement their musical taste, a cultural point of reference, and so much more to so many. But above all, it’s become the largest musical democracy of its kind in the world, and a musical rite of passage for many Aussies.

It’s such a popular event that even the Prime Minister shared his picks with the country.

Impressively, Anthony Albanese’s list only features one international act: Florence + The Machine, with the band's hit Free. The rest of his choices are all-Australian and include King Stingray's Camp Dog, Alex The Astronaut's Haircut, Quicksand by Hatchie, G Flip's GET ME OUTTA HERE, Stars In My Eyes by Ball Park Music, Spacey Jane's It's Been A Long Day, Thelma Plum's The Brown Snake, Colin by Lime Cordiale and Colin Hay, and in the wake of your leave by Gang Of Youths.

One follower commented, "This is way better than 10 Hillsong tracks", with another writing, "Love this! You’re the Aussie Obama!"

The Triffid’s Hottest 100 party is the place where you can speculate the order of the ultimate Best Songs Of 2022 list.

A few weeks ago, triple j alerted us that the #1 and #2 songs vying for the top spot on this year's Hottest 100 had fewer than 125 votes separating the two

"The internet's most accurate prediction", Warm Tunas, has again been crunching the numbers.

While the Warm Tunas rankings are no sure bet - as it's based on screenshots and hashtags posted to social media - it correctly predicted the 2018 #1 (Ocean Alley's Confidence) and the 2017

winner (Kendrick Lamar's HUMBLE.).

For the 2020 countdown, Warm Tunas correctly predicted UK outfit Glass Animals' Heat Waves to come out on top ahead of local bands. For this year's countdown, the website currently

predicts Gang Of Youths' emotive banger, in the wake of your leave, to take the top spot above Stars In My Eyes by Ball Park Music and Spacey Jane's Hardlight.
