The Tivoli has announced a new concert series that highlights iconic Australian artists and welcomes them back to the stage to celebrate the venue's 35-year anniversary as a performing arts venue.
Titled ENCORE, The Tivoli will welcome some of its most-played acts to perform across seven different dates starting January 14th and finishing up July 21st.
The incredible lineup includes Thundamentals, Meg Mac, Sunnyboys, Cog, The Smith Street Band, James Reyne & Ella Hooper, and The Waifs.
Senior Producer, Madison Stevenson, said, “ENCORE is a celebration of the artists and performances that have established The Tivoli as the beating heart of Brisbane’s live music scene.
“The ENCORE program features a hand-picked selection of artists and musicians that form the deep musical heritage of The Tivoli. Each ENCORE artist has been a catalyst for some of the greatest moments that have taken place within the old girl’s four walls. We couldn’t think of a better way to celebrate her 35th anniversary.
“We want to celebrate the vibrant spirit of The Tivoli and honour the artists who have made the venue a tried-and-true icon of Brisbane’s music scene.”
While each band has already made their mark on The Tivoli stage numerous times, they each come back for ENCORE to celebrate something different. Meg Mac, The Smith Street Band, and Thundamentals will be touring their new respective catalogues, while country-folk stars, The Waifs, will be celebrating their 30th year as a band.
After ten years back in the game (after a 21-year hiatus), Sunnyboys will return one last time for an official send-off. The boys will embark on The Last Dance - Their Farewell Tour, much to their fans' dismay.
Cog will headline the colossal event, The Other Festival featuring a line-up of the country’s biggest names in metal, prog and rock Osaka Punch, Bare Bones, The Stranger and more.
Lastly, James Reyne will be performing two shows in June, playing hits from Australian Crawl and his solo catalogue, and will be supported by Killing Heidi’s Ella Hooper.
“At the heart of ENCORE is the opportunity for the music-loving people of Brisbane to come together and relive their favourite live music memories, or create totally new experiences,” Stevenson said.
“The artists we’ve programmed are household names in Australian music, all of which have progressed beyond playing a venue of this size. ENCORE offers a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity for fans to see their favourite artists in an intimate setting once more."
