The RubensAustralian alt-rockers The Rubens have plenty to celebrate: they’ve just announced a new album, an accompanying tour, and this year marks their 15th anniversary.
On Friday, 16 October, the homegrown rockers will unveil their sixth album, Group Therapy, along with an extensive national tour that will take them to every corner of the country.
Visiting regional centres and capital cities, The Rubens will be joined by special guests Selve on all shows excluding the dates in WA. During the tour, fans will get to experience new tracks from Group Therapy, as well as the classics.
The Rubens’ upcoming tour begins at Sydney’s City Recital Hall on the night of their new album’s release. They’ll then visit Adelaide, Mt Gambier, Coolum, Brisbane, D'Aguilar, Castlemaine, Melbourne, Barwon Heads, Hobart, Forth, Fremantle, Margaret River, and conclude the run at Wagga Wagga’s Romano’s on Saturday, 12 December.
Pre-sale tickets will be available on Tuesday, 18 August, at 9 am local time, followed by the general sale on Wednesday, 19 August, at 10 am local time. Head to the band’s website for more ticketing information.

Well aware of the cost-of-living crisis, The Rubens have lowered ticket prices to make them more affordable for fans. They’ve thought deeply about where the shows will be played – capital cities as well as the regions – and will announce even more dates soon.
In addition to announcing their new album and tour, The Rubens have unveiled the single, Love Me America, which tackles the group’s complex relationship with America, the land of dreams.
“We naively ventured to New York to make our first record,” singer Sam Margin said. “It was terrifying, exciting, a blur and our introduction to a country that has fascinated us ever since. ‘Love Me America’ is a love song to America, but not a simple one.”
He continued, “It’s about the scale of its promise, the thrill of chasing something big, and the strange desire to belong somewhere that can still feel just beyond your reach. A love song with all the baggage that comes along with it.”
Brother and keyboardist Elliott Margin added, “It was wild. But it’s not all negative. To me it’s almost like a love story – you keep on coming back to the country, enamoured with the thrill of chasing that dream.”
