“This night was history being made, and there was no taking away from it."
Once the initial joy elicited from news the classic Guns N’ Roses line-up would be reforming for a world tour had worn off, many wondered how Axl Rose, Slash and Duff McKagan would fair together live after more than two decades, but by reviews flooding in from the US, it seems they’ve still got it.
After a slew of US and South American dates, they’ll hit Aus in Feb, no doubt tighter than ever, with Consequence Of Sound reporting the show “is a spectacle” and Chicago punters “just went nuts”. Rose has been punctual to these gigs, despite a long-standing record of unreliability.
Rolling Stone described the Detroit show as “deeply steeped in electric energy”. “This night was history being made, and there was no taking away from it,” read their review. Rose was actually on stage before the advertised starting time – Guns N’ Roses mean business.
After their gig in Georgia, AJC said “a combination of clarity and maturity is apparently a musical jackpot.”
