More The Preatures More The Preatures

Sydney indie rock outfit The Preatures are reuniting, announcing today a 15-date national tour in celebration of their groundbreaking debut album Blue Planet Eyes turning 10. The band will take to every major capital city and regional town across Australia, performing the album in its entirety, including hits like Is This How You Feel? and Somebody’s Talking.

Last year, The Preatures reunited for the first time in five years to play a one-off, intimate show at Sydney’s The Lansdowne for the 10th anniversary of Blue Planet Eyes. As expected, fans were left both emotional and electrified as the band revisited songs that helped shape an entire chapter of Australian indie.

With the show selling out in only 6 minutes, the demand for more could not be more obvious. Since then, many fans around the country have been itching for a national tour celebrating Blue Planet Eyes in all of its glory.

Similarly, the band found a thirst for playing and performing together as a unit again, expressing their keenness to do so across the country, in commemoration of an album that shaped their own music journeys.

“We're so happy to be back doing what we love: playing live, connecting with fans and travelling around Australia! This tour is dedicated to everyone who has supported The Preatures - through all our changes as a group and as individuals,” they said.

“We wanna celebrate this anniversary with you. We're so excited to have the chance to play Blue Planet Eyes, along with the deep cuts... maybe even some new songs. See you in the pit!”

Blue Planet Eyes, released in 2014, is framed as an introduction to The Preatures and their sonic world of 60s R&B and country-inflected pop and indie rock. The album gained immediate traction, garnering widespread critical acclaim and forming a global community of devoted fans.

The album went on to debut at #4 on the ARIA charts, earning four ARIA nominations and a J Award nomination, with its tracks Is This How You Feel? placing #9 in the 2013 triple j Hottest 100 and Somebody’s Talking at #29 in 2014.

Soon after, The Preatures would go from playing clubs of hundreds of people to stages for tens of thousands of people, exemplifying their quick rise to fame and earning them the title as one of Australia’s most boundary pushing acts. Some major international spots for the band include Jimmy Kimmel Live, mainstage Coachella, SXSW, Bonnatoo and Glastonbury.

However, the band members soon found themselves facing pressures that affected their band life and personal lives. Constant touring, financial issues, personal struggles and the COVID-19 pandemic evidently took a toll on the group, causing them to disband in 2021.

After a much-needed break, The Preatures have discovered a newfound stability and are ready to generate it through a 15-date Australian tour this Winter. Featuring the original lineup of frontwoman Isabella Manfredi, guitarist Jack Moffitt, bassist Thomas Champion and drummer Luke Davison, as well as returning guitarist Gideon Bensen (who departed the band in 2016), the tour will be a family affair, inviting long-time fans along for the ride.

Adelaide indie pop group The Tullamarines and songwriter and multidisciplinary artist Bec Sandridge will also be supporting the band for this momentous run of shows.
