Kevin “Noodles” Wasserman, lead guitarist and backing vocalist of the punk rock band The Offspring, has announced that he’ll be stepping back from touring as he deals with an undisclosed “fairly serious health issue.”

Noodles shared the news on The Offspring’s social media accounts overnight on Thursday (22 October), Australian time, informing fans that his bandmates have his back and are “super supportive” as he removes himself from the spotlight.

“It is with deep sadness that I have to announce that I need to step away from live performances for a while to deal with a sudden and fairly serious health issue,” Noodles’ post reads.

It continues, “The rest of the band has my back, is super supportive, and will keep rocking you all in my absence. I hope to be back on stage sooner rather than later. Until then, I will miss all of you with all of my heart.

“Thanks for keeping me in your thoughts. I really appreciate it. Noodles.”

The Music wishes Noodles well and hopes he has a speedy recovery.

Noodles performs on all eleven of The Offspring’s albums, with their latest record, SUPERCHARGED, dropping in October 2024.

The Offspring brought their SUPERCHARGED tour to Australia last May, joined by special guests Simple Plan.

In a recent interview with The Music promoting their tour and recent album, lead singer Dexter Holland and Noodles discussed their desire to shed the “punk” label, despite reviving mainstream interest in punk rock in the 1990s and selling millions of records.

“I think that we get the punk label a lot, and I get it because it's where we came from, and there's still a big part of that in our music, but I would like to elevate ourselves and just be The Offspring,” Holland said.

“They don't call Pearl Jam a grunge band anymore, right? They got to the point where they're just Pearl Jam. They don't have to carry that label forever.”
