Sam and Jack Hunt – formerly known as The Hunt Brothers – have returned with a new name, a new song, and a signing to a record label.

Today, the brothers, now known as CALI RD, have unveiled their first single under their new name, the folk-pop number, Falling Fast.

Falling Fast was penned by CALI RD, Ned Philpot, and producer Robbie De Sa (Baker Boy, MAY-A). The track marks their debut under their new label, Island Records Australia.

Falling Fast is about that feeling of unexpectedly falling in love with someone that you’ve just met,” the brothers explained in a statement. “It’s about being unable to stop yourself from going all in from the very start, and gaining an entirely new perspective of falling in love completely.”

Having performed and been surrounded by music for their whole lives, the Adelaide-born siblings once balanced careers in carpentry (Jack) and as an electrician (Sam) with their music. They amassed a loyal following as The Hunt Brothers while based in Darwin, with covers and originals drawing millions of views and listens.

CALI RD are now based in the NSW area of Cronulla, drawing inspiration from their time on the Top End and from along the coast in their new music.

In August, the duo will celebrate the release of Falling Fast and launch their new era with a run of headline shows. Plus, they’ll open shows for Boy & Bear in September. Their headline shows take place at Wollongong’s TBH Fridays on Friday, 21 August, and Manly’s 7th Day Brewing on Saturday, 22 August. Best of all, those shows are free.

CALI RD’s shows opening for Boy & Bear are scheduled for Brunswick Heads’ Hotel Brunswick on Friday, 4 September, and the Sunshine Coast’s Kings Beach Tavern on Saturday, 5 September.

You can find tickets and more information on the duo’s website.
