The Dudes From Odesza Have Launched Their Own Label

Say hello to Foreign Family Collective

More Odesza More Odesza

Seattle-based electronic luminaries Odesza — Harrison Mills and Clayton Knight to the taxman — are only months out from releasing last year's lauded second album In Return (out now via Inertia), but they're already turning their heads to the next challenge; namely, creating and running their own label, dubbed the Foreign Family Collective.

As if they're not going to be busy enough on global festival stages for the foreseeable future, Mills and Knight will be using Foreign Family Collective as an incubator and springboard for up-and-coming artists who have caught their ear and attention, with the first such release coming in the form of Fiend, a pretty mad collaboration between Auckland-based electro-hip hop artist Troy Samuela and enigmatic purveyor of "cinematic funeral music" (and prior Odesza collaborator, on Memories That You CallMonsoonsiren.

You can hear the track, released today on the new label (and, again, via Inertia in Australia), below.

"Troy Samuela and Monsoonsiren are an unusual pairing for a track, which is why this one is so unique," Odesza say of the label's inaugural release in a statement. "Troy Samuela's synth work and heavy hip hop influence blend with Monsoonsiren's hauntingly beautiful, airy vocals in a way that complements each other in an unexpected way."

There's scant information for what lies on the horizon for the new concern, but early indications are that we'll next be seeing something new from current Odesza tour-mate Big Wild. Keep your eyes peeled for future releases soon.
