Australian alternative rock royalty The Clouds are going on tour in May 2024, celebrating the highlights of their brilliant four albums Penny Century (1991), Octopus (1992), Thunderhead (1993) and Futura (1996).
The Retroactive tour begins on Friday, 3 May, at The Gov in Adelaide, followed by a show at Perth’s Rosemount Hotel on 4 May, Melbourne’s Corner Hotel on Saturday, 11 May, Brisbane’s The Triffid on Saturday, 18 May, and ends at Sydney’s Factory Theatre on Saturday, 25 May.
To coincide with the tour, The Clouds are releasing their four albums in an epic Retroactive vinyl box set to be released in April 2024.
The Clouds were a vital component of the alt-rock boom that shook Australia in the early '90s, building a solid following with their infectious mix of hazy psychedelic and rough-hewn rock'n'roll.
Based around the undeniable chemistry between founding members and songwriters Jodi Phillis (guitar/vocals) and Trish Young (bass/vocals), plus guitarist Dave Easton and drummer Raphael Whittingham, The Clouds released four strong albums and a raft of singles and EPs - becoming a mainstay of the national scene and even making decent inroads overseas - before sadly pulling up stumps in 1997.
The Clouds reformed for a string of reunion shows in 2011, but in 2017, they released their first new music in 20 years, the Zaffre EP and have since toured across the country.

The Clouds embodied the golden era of Australian rock music – the 90s. They starred on the now-iconic Red Eye Records and became triple j favourites with their dream pop vibes, occasional shoegaze elements, and just the right amount of crunchy guitars, all wrapped up in an exciting and catchy pop sensibility.
The pre-sale for The Clouds’ 2024 Australian tour opens on Monday, 6 November, at 9 am local time, with the general sale starting on Wednesday, 8 November, at 9 am local time. Tickets will be available via the Metropolis Touring website.
