The forthcoming trek marks The Brian Jonestown Massacre's first visit to Australia since their 2023 tour came to a premature end.

Veteran psychedelic rock outfit The Brian Jonestown Massacre will be making their return to Australia, more than two years since their last headline-generating performance in the country.
The forthcoming tour will launch in New Zealand on March 17th, before heading west with headline dates across all Australian states (but none of the territories). The Australian jaunt will launch in Sydney before visiting Newcastle, Brisbane, Adelaide, Hobart, Melbourne, Castlemaine, and Perth.
First formed in 1990, the group's storied history has been an interesting one, featuring a prolific recorded output, countless live shows, and plenty of attention paid to enigmatic founder Anton Newcombe.
Notably, these shows take place as part of the group’s return to touring, having sat out the entirety of 2024 following their last Australian tour.
Performing at Melbourne’s Forum Theatre in November 2023, the group’s show came to an early end after Newcombe and now-former guitarist Ryan Van Kriedt brawled at the end of the set, with one member allegedly attempting to swing a guitar at the other before the pair wrestled each other to the ground.
Users on the Melbourne-dedicated Reddit forum wrote that The Brian Jonestown Massacre “only played seven or so songs”, and the show was “disjointed, disorganised and chaotic”.

Another fan who had seen the band six times claimed they’d “never seen anything like this”. Other fans in the Melbourne subreddit said that last night’s incident was “typical” at a Brian Jonestown Massacre concert. “You got the proper BJM experience. Be thankful!!” another said.
While the remainder of that Aussie tour was canned, the group made their return to touring with a run of dates in Europe earlier this year, with all reports indicating they’re once again performing at the top of their game.
The forthcoming tour will also see Sweden's Les Big Byrd joining the band on select dates, having previously opened for a number of European dates for The Brian Jonestown Massacre earlier this year.
