After The Avalanches launched into a new era with the single Together last month, the pioneering Australian electronic outfit continues to unveil new music.

Today, The Avalanches have released their latest collaboration with Jamie xx, a joyous track called Every Single Weekend.

The trio – comprising Robbie Chater, Tony Di Blasi and Midnight JuggernautsAndy Szekeres – continue to draw inspiration from, and subvert, the language of advertising with the promotion of a fake website called Takumi, which is once again mentioned in the press release for the group’s new single.

“Taste the Weekend with El Dorado. Takumi Digital Archives proudly partners with El Dorado soda,” a statement from the trio reads.

It continues, “At Takumi, we understand that digital archives are more than data repositories - they are institutional memory, intellectual property, and cultural heritage.”

Every Single Weekend was originally featured as an interlude on Jamie xx’s recent record, In Waves. It returns, reimagined by The Avalanches, following previous collaborations with Jamie xx on the tracks Wherever You Go and All You Children.

The trio explained, “We’ve loved collaborating with Jamie xx over the years - his In Colour album reignited our passion for sampling, and this track is all about letting go, forgetting the 9-5 grind and enjoying every single weekend.”

Together, released last month, features Nikki Nair, Jessy Lanza, and emerging artist Prentiss, who Pitchfork reports is just 18 years old and hails from Jackson, Missouri. At the time of publication, no new album has been announced.

The Avalanches’ most recent album, We Will Always Love You, was released in 2020. It was the follow-up to 2016’s Wildflower, which arrived 16 years after their hugely successful debut album, 2000’s Since I Left You.

For We Will Always Love You, The Avalanches joined forces with big-name collaborators such as Denzel Curry, Tricky, Jamie xx, MGMT and Johnny Marr, Karen O, Rivers Cuomo, and many others.
