Peter Dutton Calls For Kanye West To Be Blocked From Entering Australia

Ye - the artist formerly known as Kanye West - is reportedly visiting Australia next week to meet his new wife Bianca Censori's family - tweets and TikToks suggest that he's already here. 

However, the Anti-Defamation Commission's Dr Dvir Abramovich is calling for his visa to be denied based on his antisemitic comments. Abramovich isn't the only one: federal Opposition Leader Peter Dutton also opposes granting Ye entry to the country.

The Stronger rapper and Censori, an architectural designer and Head of Architecture at Yeezy, recently married in a private ceremony, sources told TMZ.

TMZ reports that the couple has been seen wearing wedding rings, but they haven't filed a legal marriage certificate yet.

Censori holds Master's and Bachelor's degrees from the University of Melbourne and has worked for Ye since 2020. 

Yesterday, Peter Dutton told 3AW that if he was still in government, his "inclination would be not to allow him in" (via ABC).

He added, "His anti-Semitic comments are disgraceful, his conduct and his behaviour is appalling, and he's not a person of good character. The minister has the ability to stop somebody coming into our country of bad character. 

"So, the minister's got a lot to weigh up, but I must say my instinct would be if I was that decision-maker, I think there are better people we could welcome in."

Education Minister Jason Clare is also against Ye entering Australia.

"I don't know if he's applied for a visa yet — but Google it, you will see that he seems like he's a pretty big fan of a person who killed 6 million Jewish people last century," Clare said on Channel 9. "People like that who've applied for visas to get into Australia in the past have been rejected."

Appearing on Sunrise yesterday, Anti-Defamation Commission chairman, Dr Dvir Abramovich, commented, "There are certain moral issues in life that you can’t ignore.

"This unrepentant Holocaust denier, who likes to hang out with white supremacists, who issued death threats against the Jewish community, who says he loves Nazis and admires Hitler, has no business being here. 

"This is a test for democracy, and I think we are better than this."

Abramovich added, "If we allow Kanye West in, it will be a spit on the grave of every digger who fought and died to defeat Hitler's regimen."

In December, Ye was suspended from Twitter for incitement of violence following a string of antisemitic tweets. Earlier that week, Ye appeared on Alex Jones's InfoWars, where he explicitly and repeatedly affirmed his admiration for Hitler and denied that the holocaust ever happened.

2022 was an alarming year for Ye. He is facing a $250 million lawsuit from George Floyd's family because of his comments ("They hit him with the fentanyl if you look, the guys knew wasn't even on his neck like that") and has been dropped by Adidas, Balenciaga, and Def Jam Recordings, among others.

Ye was recently locked out of Facebook and Instagram after spouting anti-semitic rhetoric.

As reported by The Los Angeles Times, Ye's anti-semitic comments have had real-life consequences and recently drew a well-known hate group to a Los Angeles freeway; the group "gave Nazi salutes as they stood behind a large banner that read, 'Kanye is right about the Jews.'" 

Last year, Ye wore a "White Lives Matter" long-sleeved shirt at his Yeezy Season 9 fashion show, where he later proclaimed himself "the leader". American conservative pundit Candace Owens wore a matching shirt while models wore it on the runway.
