"It’s with deep regret I need to let you all know I will no longer be writing music or performing as part of The Amity Affliction."

Australian post-hardcore/metalcore veterans The Amity Affliction have lost one of their founding members, with guitarist Troy Brady revealing on Facebook this morning that he is no longer a part of the band.

"It’s with deep regret I need to let you all know I will no longer be writing music or performing as part of The Amity Affliction," Brady wrote in the post. "Myself and [bassist/vocalist] Ahren [Stringer] started this band 11 years ago, and spent every second of every day thinking about making the next step. I never dreamed I would see the world through music and make the life long friends that I have made. But it is time for me to step away.

"Although I’m not ready to go into any of the personal details behind this, I want to thank everyone who has supported me during my time in the band especially my family and girlfriend. This decision has been the hardest thing I have ever done.

"Through music I have become more enlightened and a better person, I have no regrets with my time in Amity as it made me who I am today."

Brady concluded the post with a thank-you to the fans, saying he will "never forget" the role they played in his and Amity's success, as well as well-wishes for his now-ex bandmates.

The announcement comes as a particular shock, given that Amity are currently in the midst of a tour of the United States, and only just announced an extensive regional tour of Australia slated for the new year.

Crank Amity's new cut, The Weigh Down, in honour of the exeunting stringsmith, or just because it's a really good song.
