The indie-rock poster boys will be here for three shows only
Britain-bred indie darlings The 1975 have announced that they will be returning to Australian shores in January next year for a headline east-coast tour, having only just left the country following their crazy-successful tour for Splendour In The Grass.
The 2015 run is a limited one – three shows all up – but sufficiently large in stature, with the performances hitting Melbourne’s Festival Hall on Thursday, January 15, Sydney’s Hordern Pavilion on Saturday, January 17, and an all-ages appearance at the Tivoli Theatre, in Brisbane, on Sunday, January 18. The band will then hop across the ditch for a quick rendezvous with their faithful in Auckland (January 20).
The 1975’s Splendour tour was a big one, coming in the wake of their self-titled debut album’s release and taking in not only their rapturously received performance at the festival itself and a mysterious illicit gift from a fan, but a run of sideshows that grew beyond its originally planned schedule of four and saw some gigs moved to larger venues – so, yeah, you could say Aussies are into it.
If you already know why – or want to find out – there will be a Secret Sounds members’ pre-sale from 9am on Monday, August 18, for which, as the name implies, you have to be a Secret Sounds member. General-release tickets will be on sale from 9am on Friday, August 22, and set you back $62.50.
