People lost their minds over reality show The Masked Singer when it premiered in the US, and now the singing competition is heading to Australia, landing on Network Ten this year.
The series plays out in a similar fashion to the singing competitions we’ve seen here before but goes one step further than the likes of The Voice with a whacky twist, as its title suggests.
A number of local celebrities will feature on the Australian version of the show, with each performing to a panel of judges while hiding behind a character/mask.
The judges then have the opportunity to ask each contestant questions to try to determine their identity, while voting alongside the audience as to who will continue to the next round.
“It is genuinely original, addictive and a little bit bonkers,” Network 10 CCO Beverley McGarvey said.
"It is not that often that you get to launch something that feels so unique and exciting. We cannot wait to get going and have the whole country playing along.”
The Australian judges have yet to be confirmed, but the US version featured Ken Jeong, Jenny McCarthy, Nicole Scherzinger and Robin Thicke, while celebrities such as Tommy Chong, Margaret Cho, Gladys Knight and more appeared as contestants, with T-Pain being crowned the winner.
Meanwhile, Network 10 has announced that former Australian Idol contestant Casey Donovan will host its own version of reality-based documentary series Catfish.

The show will feature celebs facing off with one major twist: they're disguised head-to-toe in an elaborate costume to conceal their identity.
